Heart as a Compass

Take a moment to think about all the aspects of your life that revitalize you and bring you joy. Perhaps it’s singing along to your favorite song, sprinting across a soccer field, or spending precious quality time with a loved one. These seemingly insignificant moments are some of the most vital, truth-telling experiences we have. When we follow our hearts and walk in the direction of what brings us the most joy, we experience the fullness of enlightenment. Lapis Lazuli is a stone that emphasizes the importance of uplifting yourself, following your bliss, and shedding the obstacles in your life that keep you from living harmoniously.

The captivating intensity of Lapis Lazuli’s royal blue complexion has attracted people to this lively and spirited stone for centuries. Dating back to the 7th Millennium BCE, Lapis was found in the Sar-i Sang mines in Shortugai, and in other mines in the Badakhshan province in northeast Afghanistan. Its name comes from the Latin word lapis, meaning "stone," and the Persian word lazhuward, which means "blue."

The makeup of this metamorphic rock consists of multiple minerals: Lazurite, Sodalite, Calcite, and beautiful gold flecks of Pyrite. The ultramarine pigment formed when grinding Lapis into powder was used by some of the most important artists of the Renaissance and Baroque movements, including Michelangelo, Masaccio, Perugino, and Vermeer. Lapis Lazuli’s deep sapphire blue color symbolizes royalty and honor and has been prestigiously valued by Egyptian kings and queens, most famously King Tutankhamen.

Wisdom Within

Also known as the “wisdom keeper,” Lapis Lazuli contains the knowledge and power that helps you go deep within your spirit to awaken your unique destiny and purpose. If you are drawn to this stone, it could be a sign that you are ready to expand your mind and discover your connection to spiritual realms. This stone is also commonly referred to as a symbol of revival because it works to relieve anger, negative thoughts, and feelings of stagnancy.

The vibrancy and liveliness of Lapis Lazuli is mirrored by its energetic properties. Carrying this stone with you ignites a sense of clarity and determination in your life. Lapis’ energy sets the heart ablaze, giving you the courage and confidence to unapologetically walk in the direction of your dreams. Above all things, it honors the heart’s desires and teaches you to listen intently to the wisdom that comes from within.
